Muslim Youths Attack Catholic Church Members In Niger State For Holding Service On Friday
Few days after a female RCCG preacher Deaconess
Eunice Olawale was murdered by Muslim extremists in
Abuja, another similar but less fatal attack has been
carried out.
On Friday, about 200 muslim youths returning from
Friday Jumat prayer rushed to the premises of St Phillips
Catholic Church in Baki Iku, a community located
between Abuja and Niger State.
The extremists reportedly protested the fact that the
Catholic church carried out services on the same day as
their Jumat prayer. The youths numbering 200 rushed
into the church, beat the security men and some church
members to stupor before moving into the main
auditorium to vandalise all the church properties.
According to Reverend Father Gobep Luka Sylvester, the
attack was carried out around 2pm on Friday the 15th of
July 2016.
He added that the seminarian and women holding prayer
were beaten and chased away from the church building.
