President Buhari Leaves for Turkey

   President Muhammadu Buhari, has left Nigeria for Istanbul, Turkey where he will be participating in the ninth Summit of the Developing 8 (D-8) on Friday, October 20, 2017. It was reported that following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting with members of his cabinet, he left the country.

   The president was scheduled to leave Abuja for Turkey immediately following the council’s meeting which was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and others
.
In a statement by the President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday, he said President Buhari would participate in the ninth D-8 Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, on Oct. 20.
Mr. Adesina also said that before the commencement of the summit, Mr. Buhari, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, would be on working visit to Ankara, the Turkish capital.
He said the president would during the visit have a private discussion with the Turkish president while delegates from both countries would have discussions in various fields including defence cooperation, security, educational and migration issues.
According to the presidential aide, the Nigerian president lwill also visit the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara, where he will meet with the Turkish Speaker, Ismail Kahraman.
Mr. Adesina said President Buhari planned to use the occasion to foster warm and growing ties across a broad range of areas of cooperation with leaders of the D8-member countries.
Member countries of the D-8 include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey. (NAN)
